“What's wrong with wanting to know the people in your army? I may still be new, but this is my seventeenth battle. I've seen over a hundred of my comrades die in battle, but I remember all of their names. They were all precious companions to me. But fine, if you're that opposed, then I won't twist your arm. It's just one less name that I have to memorize.”
—Arkis, in a conversation with Estelle
Arkis (アーキス Ākisu) is a playable character from TearRing Saga: Utna Heroes Saga. He is a knight of Razelia who fights alongside Runan. He is the arranged fiancé of Rina, as well as the partner of her brother, Kreiss.
Arkis is first seen when he is accompanying Runan to Wellt at the beginning of the game. Early in the game, he becomes very upset out of concern for Rina and doubts Runan's cause, which causes Kreiss to call him out on his selfishness. During Map 2, Arkis can approach Estelle with the intention of flirting with her. When he makes an offer to become her bodyguard, she points out that he is also inexperienced and refuses to accept it. Once she refuses to introduce herself, he reveals that he honors all of his comrades by memorizing their names. Estelle reacts with surprise, which causes him to think that she is scared. After she denies this assumption, she introduces herself to him.
At the banquet after Map 7, Arkis mentions that he and Kreiss have not eaten such food in years. Once Kreiss mentions that the citizens of Razelia are likely to be starving, Arkis tells him not to ruin the mood and remarks that Runan will soon retake their homeland. Kreiss reacts by pointing out that Arkis was doubting Runan just a few days ago. Upon being reminded of it, Arkis expresses his shame and declares that he will always be loyal to Runan. In the following scene, he claims that Rina is a child when Estelle mentions that she has heard about their betrothal. If he and Estelle are sent with Runan after the first route split, they will have a scene in which he tells her that she will not catch Raffin as long as she acts childishly. They quickly get into an argument in which he points out that she is too pampered to see reality and mentions her tendency to lash out at others over the smallest things. Eventually, he attempts to grab her, which causes her to realize that he is drunk and run away.
If both he and Kreiss are sent with Holmes after the first route split, they can visit Verge and meet Leteena for the first time. In this scene, it is revealed that he held up Kreiss by hitting on women at an inn, causing both of them to be late for a gathering.
In the event that the player goes to Map 26B, Arkis will rush into the city of Razelia alone to find Rina. After they reunite and attempt to escape, they are apprehended by Rentzen, who takes Rina as his hostage to force Arkis to betray Runan. To ensure Rina's safety, he obeys Rentzen's commands and dresses himself in the clothing of a dark soldier so that Runan will not recognize him. Once Rina is saved by Runan's army, she can identify Arkis among the dark soldiers and recruit him back into the army. At the end of the chapter, Eugen summons Arkis to receive the punishment of a traitor. However, Rina defends him by taking responsibility for his actions, pointing out that he betrayed Razelia to protect her. This causes Runan and Eugen to forgive him and accept him back into the army, trusting Rina to keep him under control.
In the ending, Arkis returns to Razelia and continues to serve as a knight. He entrusts Rina to care of his uncle, who remarks that she is growing up and embarrasses him.
Despite being betrothed, Arkis flirts with the majority of women whom he meets. While he does deeply care for Rina, he does not love her romantically, with one of his major reasons being her youth. In contrast to Kreiss, he values his loved ones above his loyalty to Razelia and thus is willing to sacrifice countless civilians to save Rina. He also becomes rather embarrassed when Rina shows her dedication to him and thinks that she is too nice to him.

|Item Required||Promoted Class|
|Knight Proof||Commando Knight|
Of the two starting Cavaliers, Arkis is the one that focuses more on Speed and Luck, with barely average growths in Strength, Skill and Defense hampering his combat ability. Arkis' promotion, the Commando Knight, allows him to fight just as well on Foot as he can on horseback. However, other Cavaliers can hit harder and faster. In the long-term, Arkis is an average unit, not terrible, but not the best choice.
“So the end, of one's life...Is like this, huh...”
