“I've heard rumors... Bramimond, one of the eight legends, devoted himself entirely to the dark. All emotion, all memory... dissolved in a river of dark. That is how he received the power to best dragons...”
Teodor

Bramimond the Enigma is a hermit that sleeps beneath the Shrine of Seals in Bern, and was one of the Eight Legends who fought in The Scouring, wielding their dark tome Apocalypse, the Silencing Darkness.

Profile[]

Bramimond is associated with Valor, The Dread Isle, where they perfected dark powers to best dragons by sacrificing their humanity. Alongside the Archsage Athos, Bramimond is one of only two legendary heroes alive during the events of Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade, and is presumably deceased during the events of Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade, as implied during the epilogue just before Athos' death.

As they appear in The Blazing Blade, Bramimond is of no existing class, but internal game data has them listed as a class named after themself and resembling a Druid. Their sprite, as seen in the last level when they resurrect Ninian, is clearly that of a unique class, but can be said to bear some resemblance to a Dark Druid.

Personality[]

Though Bramimond was originally male, due to his perfect mastery of dark magic, they no longer have any specific gender or personality, instead mirroring the personality and voice of the person speaking to them. Because of this, the Bramimond that is seen in their picture is how the Tactician views them. With Eliwood, they are reserved; with Lyndis, they are resolute; and with Hector, they are impatient. With Athos, they come across as wise and concerned. Teodor's explanation of Bramimond strongly hints he was born a normal human being like others, but his dark magic skills turned them into what they are today.

Base Set[]

The first ever Colorless Tome user in Heroes is none other than the enigmatic Bramimond, who is a new kind of threat unlike any seen before. As a Dark Mythic Hero, they score well in Aether Raids as a Defense unit, but unfortunately are not good as an Attack Aether Raids unit. They are an explosive mage with an incredible Atk stat and have excellent magical bulk. Their only stat downside is a middling Spd, leaving them vulnerable to highly aggressive enemies, as well as low physical bulk. Still, their kit helps to cover these weaknesses for the most part, thus as the herald of the Colorless tomes, Bramimond does not disappoint.

Void Tome contributes to their monstrous Atk with 3 bonus flat Atk. It also gains tremendous effect whenever the opponent is over a certain stat threshold or is afflicted with a [Penalty] which includes visible debuffs, unit statuses like Guard, Trilemma's Triangle Adept effect, or Gravity. If the opponent has 35 or more Spd or has the [Penalty] effect, Bramimond is given a guaranteed follow-up, amending their low Spd. If the opponent has 50 or more Atk or has the [Penalty] effect, Bramimond gain an additional 5 Atk/Def/Res during combat, further increasing their damage and bulk. As such, Bramimond enjoys having allies who can help debuff their enemies and can punish hyper aggressive opponents themself once they have been hit by any sort of penalty.

Their unique Skill C is Impenetrable Dark, which shuts down skill effects of any foe aside from the one Bramimond is currently battling. This includes Drive and Spur skills as well as weapon effects like Geirskögul and Yato. While not mandatory, this does help mainly for enemies who are heavily reliant on such benefits, thus making Bramimond excellent for Arena/Aether Raids Def where more of these are relevant.

Luna is their special, which ignores 50% of the enemy's Res when it activates. Attack Defense Push 4 grants them an additional 7 Atk/Def so long as their HP is at least 25% or higher. They do suffer 5 damage recoil, but this can be amended with a healing ally or a well placed Aether Raid healing tower. Lull Attack Resistance inflicts Atk/Res -3 to their opponents, thus giving them the means to activate the Void Tome, and neutralize the existing bonuses to their opponent's Atk/Res.

Counters[]

Bramimond is vulnerable to Null Follow-Up who can cancel the Void Tome's follow-up effect even if their opponent meets the stat threshold. Due to Lull Attack Resistance, they functionally have more physical bulk than it may seem, but still any enemy who is below the 50 Atk threshold can prevent the additional bonus stats granted by Void Tome as well. Otherwise, attacking them with Firesweep weapons or using the standard staff combos can whittle down their health to secure a kill later. Using Raven tomes can also force a color disadvantage and push it further with Triangle Adept, thus making both Robin,s Sophia, and Cecilia as decent wall units as none of them unmerged activates any of the Void Tome's effects through their stats.

Skill Inheritance[]

With Bramimond's Support skill empty, filling it with Reposition or Draw Back are excellent options for the standard ally positioning effects. Glimmer is a far superior Special as they can benefit more from increasing damage through buffs than just smashing with their base raw Atk alone.

Their A Skill can be replaced with Sturdy Impact/Mirror Impact to bolster their damage and bulkiness during their turn without forcing themself to take recoil. Close Counter allows them to counterattack enemies at close range, thus making them a threatening unit at any range. Their B Skill can be replaced with Special Spiral, which can keep their special active, though this means they will have to find a self-debuffing source elsewhere.

Etymology[]

Bramimonde is a character from the Song of Roland, the Queen of Zaragoza.

Trivia[]

  • In their appearance in Heroes, Bramimond is the only character to be simultaneously voiced by more than one voice actor (discounting Duo Heroes and Heroes from Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE, which feature more than one character to represent one Hero). This is in direct reference to their role in Blazing Blade where they copy the voices of the three lords, Eliwood, Hector and Lyn, with the fourth voice likely in reference to Alfonse, the main lord of Heroes.
    • Their first voice actor, Patrick Seitz, also voices Hector, Draug, Garon, Brady, Sirius, Basilio, Zeke, and the Death Knight in Heroes, as well as Laurent in Awakening and Lambert in Three Houses.
    • Their second voice actor, Wendee Lee, also voices Veronica, Maria, Sophia and Lyn in Heroes, Lyn also in Warriors, and is one of the voice options for female Robin in Awakening.
    • Their third voice actor, Yuri Lowenthal, also voices Merric, Eliwood, Ricken, and Kiragi in Heroes, as well as male Corrin's alternative voice lines from Fates and Marth in the franchise from Fates onwards.
    • Their fourth voice actor, Ray Chase, also voices Alfonse, Roy, Gaius, and Fernand in Heroes.
      • In Tap Battle: Illusory Dungeon: History Unveiled, Extra Stage 2, Roy appears as one of the generic enemies along with the three lords, despite his Japanese voice actor being different from Alfonse's.
    • Though Bramimond has four different Special activation quotes, all four lines are read by their four voice actors, technically giving them 16 different special voice clips in total, the most of any singular character in Heroes.
  • Bramimond is the first member of the Eight Legends to become playable in Heroes.
  • Bramimond is the first Colorless Tome unit introduced into Heroes.
