“...It appears that further conversation would only be a waste of time. Though even if His Majesty desires it not, I will remain and protect him. I cannot allow the legacy of Daein to end here!”
— Bryce

Bryce was one of both the Legendary Four Riders (also called the Great Riders) and Mad King Ashnard's Four Riders. He is slain in Melior Castle's courtyard by the Crimean Army. He was the only character that wielded the powerful lance Wishblade.

He was extremely loyal to King Ashnard's predecessors, even after Ashnard reveals to him it was him that killed the previous king (via Blood Contract). Despite this, Bryce still believes the royal bloodline must be preserved.

Bryce is a man who has devoted his life to Daein. On many occasions, he is confused and somewhat insulted by the lack of care Ashnard and a few other Daein soldiers had when Daein lost a battle, which was a very common occurrence in the later part of the game.

Unlike most enemies in the game, Bryce fought with honor, which Ike comments on when Bryce is slain by him.

[edit] Strategy

As a Level 20 General, the usual strategy to approach him is to use a strong physical unit, preferably a unit that can double-attack, that can attack from range (eg. Ike w/ Ragnell, Paladin w/Spear, Warrior w/ Tomahawk) and that has their Mastery Skill.

At the start of the battle, immediately move your chosen unit to the narrow choke point directly north of your starting position and occupy the entrance, awaiting Bryce and the other generals that approach (this will allow you to deal with them one at a time). Station a healer nearby, as the three generals can deal vast amounts of damage if left unchecked (all three also possess the Guard skill, which cancels one enemy attack). The first two generals should always attack directly, with Bryce using ranged attacks. Your unit should deal with the first two generals fairly easily, and once they have been dealt with, Bryce should be weakened from your ranged counter-attacks, with your unit being constantly healed from your healer/mastery skill.

Bryce should be taken down easily from here with direct attacks. When he is defeated, you obtain a Speedwing.

It is not necessary to kill Bryce, however. If King Ashnard is killed before Bryce, then the battle will end. Despite this, Bryce is considered to have been killed canonically, as stated in Radiant Dawn.

He can also be obtained as a Trial Map character by completing the game 10 times.

[edit] Dialogue

Bryce (standard battle dialogue): I am Bryce, general of Daein!

Death quote: ...My strength...was not enough... I could not...protect...my homeland... Forgive me...Daein...
