In Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War, little is mentioned about the Deadlords, but they are all fought in the Final Chapter near Barhara and eventually defeated, including Canis herself.
In Fire Emblem: Thracia 776, Canis is fought in the Final Chapter. The character who becomes Canis is Sara, if she is either dead or not recruited.
Canis possesses a Resire tome, and it is thus recommended to attack her with characters who are capable of defeating her before she can make any moves, such as Shanan with the Balmung or Larcei with a Hero Sword. Alternatively, the Sleep Staff or the Silence Staff may be used against Canis before attacking her.
Canis is widely considered to be the most dangerous of the six Deadlords in the Final Chapter. Canis is capable of counterattacking with her deadly set of skills, and has the potential of wiping out weaker units with relative ease. Furthermore, of the player stalls for too long a length of time, Canis may utilize her Berserk Staff on a random ally unit on the map.
It is recommended to position Mareeta close to Canis, and kill her with Mareeta's Sword. Alternatively, the player could warp Mareeta over to Canis to defeat her.
Elf, Canis' Japanese name, is a German number, which, in this case, means 'eleven'.
In the English version, the Deadlords' names are based off the Latin names of the animals of the Chinese Zodiac. "Canis" means "dog", the eleventh animal of the Chinese Zodiac.
