Casual Mode (Newcomer Mode in the European versions) is a mode in Fire Emblem: Shin Monshō no Nazo ~Hikari to Kage no Eiyū~ and Fire Emblem: Awakening, where, when a playable character is defeated, he/she doesn't die; he/she just sits out for the rest of the fight. The player is also able to save the game in the middle of the battle and reload later; unlike bookmarks, a save can be reloaded indefinitely.
