Dheginsea (デギンハンザー, Deginhanzā?, named Deghinsea in PAL region game versions and Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance) is the King of Goldoa, home of the Dragon tribe Laguz and one of Ashera's Three Heroes who defeated the Dark God Yune. He is also known as the Black Dragon King. He had three children: Rajaion, Almedha and Kurthnaga, and two grandchildren: Soren through Almedha, and after his death, another grandson through Rajaion. He is referred to by the Hawk King Tibarn as a "living and stubborn fossil". He constantly urges the laguz not to fan the flames of war while the location of Lehran's Medallion is unknown: his top priority is to save the world from destruction. It is to this end that he maintains a policy of perfect neutrality; he also twisted the truth and labelled Yune a "Dark God" to prevent Ashera from passing her judgement.

In Part IV, he chooses to side with Ashera, leading to a confrontation with his son in the Tower of Guidance, while he is flanked by about 36 other dragon laguz, including Nasir and Gareth. He is also blessed by Ashera, making him incapable of receiving damage from any weapons not similarly blessed. He is mortally wounded by Ike and Micaiah's party after Yune blesses their weapons; before he dies, he orders his vassals to follow Kurthnaga, whom he names the new King of Goldoa. Also, if Nasir and Gareth survive (which is very easy to allow them to do so, as they are immobile and are unable to attack either Ena or Kurthnaga), they will join the the party as playable units. He is known for his 'Goldoa will not move' & 'Hold...hold I say' quotes, shown when Lehran leaves Goldoa and Dheginsea attempts to stop him.

Dheginsia seems to have his Grandson's personality. He seem to be a little exaggerated with his words when confronted in the Tower; this may come from his pride at being the King of Goldoa.
