“Ha ha... You're so naive! You're no knight. And you're no mercenary, either, you dolt! You know nothing! You can carry your precious morals straight to the grave!”
—Eubans in a conversation with Heath

Eubans is an enemy character from Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade. He is the commander of a mercenary band which is extremely loyal to the Marquess Darin of Laus, as shown by his attack on Ostia being carried out, even after Darin abandoned them. He is known for his lightning-quick battle formation, which has made him known as the "Hurricane", although Legault has the same nickname, perhaps due to a translation oversight. In the Japanese version of the game, Eubans is known as the "Fierce Eagle", which fits well with the title of his introduction chapter, "Talons Alight".

Profile[]

In Hector's Story, Eubans makes his first appearance in Chapter 15 while trying to recapture Castle Laus from Hector and Eliwood. Neither he nor Heath, who also appears in that chapter, are fought because Sealen is left to oversee the attack. He is later fought when he leads his forces to attack Eliwood and Hector during their wait to meet with Marquess Uther at a fort on Ostia's border.

Subjective: The following part of this article is based upon the editor's personal experiences and opinions, and therefore may not be applicable for all readers.

Eubans' stats are not spectacular in any way. In fact, aside from his HP, he is actually worse then Uhai, a boss fought at least three chapters ago. In Eliwood's Story, Eubans' starting position is surprisingly close to the player's, and with most of the reinforcements coming from different parts of the map, he may well die early on in the chapter. This is especially true in Hard mode, where he will attack anyone who enters into his range, which actually spreads out far enough to cover the Ballistae near the center of the map.

In Hector's Story, Eubans has made his base in the forested southeastern corner of the map, and will require a dedicated effort to reach. As he carries the game's second (and, in Hector's Hard mode, final) Knight Crest, reaching him is highly recommended, though optional. Also note that he will move to attack units within his range on Hard Mode on this campaign, as well.

Quotes[]

Battle Conversation with Heath[]

  • Eubans: You are a traitor, Heath. You know nothing of honor!
  • Heath: I... No. I simply must live a life of which I am not ashamed. Commander Eubans... It is not too late. Give the order to stop. If you do...
  • Eubans: Ha ha... You're so naïve! You're no knight. And you're no mercenary, either, you dolt! You know nothing! You can carry your precious morals straight to the grave!

Trivia[]

  • Eubans shares the same character portrait with Beyard, boss of Chapter 7x in Lyn's Story, only recolored to suit him.
