Faramir (ファラミア Faramia) is a playable character from TearRing Saga: Berwick Saga. A swordfighter from the eastern land of Izmir, he rarely speaks about himself, focusing instead on his job as a mercenary.
- Mercenary: Available in the Mercenary Guild after completing The Three Priests as long as Faye is in the party.
- Permanent: Raise his Happiness to 3 and have Faye permanently recruited.
Support Relationships Edit
- Faye: +3 Hit
Faramir is an odd unit. Though his class is basically a Myrmidon with the ability to use a bow, Faramir performs rather differently from Ouro and Faye, as he is not meant to be used as an offensive machine due to his lack of an offensive skill. This does not mean he is a poor attacker however. His personal weapon - the Overcutlass - is, as the name implies, a stronger version of Faye's Cutlass, and he also has access to blades and bows, both highly damaging weapon types that mesh well with his good strength stat. Thanks to Celerity, he is the most mobile foot unit and one of the most mobile units in general on particularly terrain heavy maps. The additional move in conjunction with his ability to use bows gives him a wide attack range. This makes Faramir ideal for eliminating particularly dangerous enemies that other units can have trouble reaching. He is the perfect counter against Assassins, as his immunity to critical hits makes their deadly Assassin Daggers much less effective, and his extremely high hit rates makes him more reliable than most at killing them.
If the player is using Faye, then Faramir is even more useful. If Faye's HP is reduced to 0, then Faramir will rescue her and take her off the map, though she cannot be deployed for the rest of the chapter. He will do this as long as he is alive, even if he is not deployed or recruited. The sole exception to this is during the main mission of Chapter 3; if Faye dies on the map, Faramir will be completely unavailable.
Much like Clifford, Faramir is a solid unit whose biggest limitation is that the player must train the significantly inferior Faye in order to permanently recruit him and bypass his rather high hiring price. Unlike Clifford, however, Faramir will not even be available for hire until Faye is in the party; if Faye is still a mercenary, she must be hired before he appears.
