“Heh heh... I like her. Throw her in a cell. I'll spend the evening giving her a thorough interrogation. Heh heh heh...”
— Gheb talking about Tana

A non-playable enemy character from Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. Gheb (ゲブ, Gurebu?) is a middle-ranking officer in Grado's service, and is in charge of Fort Rigwald at Frelia's border with Grado. Ephraim's party challenge his Fort and the men inside where upon Gheb is killed. Gheb is cruel and unforgiving to those who disobey him, even higher officers. When Gheb insulted General Duessel, Amelia, who was in the Fort at the time, was horrified and talked back to Gheb, which angered him; therefore, he punished Amelia by forcing her to go to the frontline, so that she would be killed quickly. Gheb also ordered Tana to be locked up when his men capture her, for future "interrogation" purposes. He considers himself a brilliant tactician, and believes that he is far more important than his troops.

Gheb is the level 5 Warrior boss of Chapter 9 on Ephraim's route. He uses the Killer Axe and Steel Axe. The usual strategy to defeat him is to leave a unit 2 spaces away from him so that he is unable to attack. Underestimating him can be dangerous due to the Killer Axe's high critical rate. Also, when defeated, his standby weapon will be given to the one who defeated Gheb. It would be unwise to have a lance user fight him, unless it is Seth with a sword.

Popularity

Gheb has become famous among Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones players due to an in-joke at GameFAQs, mostly about how he "raeps" people, and how he never actually died, his fans claiming it was a impostor named "Gleb". His popularity rose high enough that one of the users made a ROM hack of The Sacred Stones with him as the main character (simply titled "GhebFE").
