“Lundgren told me that my daughter had died. My heir... and you, too. He told me you were dead. Thank you... Thank you for living. Aahhh... I am blessed...”
—Lord Hausen to Lyn

Lord Hausen is a non-playable character in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade. He is the grandfather of Lyn as well as the marquess of Caelin.

Profile[]

Lyn's Tale[]

Lord Hausen is an elderly man who, years ago, became enraged at his daughter Madelyn for running off and marrying a Sacaean nomad. In his anger, he cut ties with her, but years later feels remorse after learning that Madelyn had lived happily with her husband and had given birth to a daughter, Lyndis.

Wishing to meet his granddaughter, whom by lineage is the true heir to the lordship of Caelin, Hausen sends Sain and Kent in search of her with orders to protect her and make sure she reaches Caelin safely. After meeting the knights and learning of her grandfather's existence, Lyn hears rumors that Lord Hausen is ill and will likely die soon. She becomes determined to reach Caelin and see her grandfather while he still lives.

Lord Hausen has a brother named Lundgren who seeks to take the throne of Caelin for himself. With Lyn as Hausen's heir, however, he must kill both his brother and his great-niece. To ensure Hausen's death, Lundgren poisons his food, but though he wishes his brother a quick death, Hausen clings to life in hopes that he can see Lyn before he passes away. At one point late in Lyn's story, an impatient Lundgren upsets Hausen by suggesting that his granddaughter has likely been killed on her journey while also telling him to "hurry up and die".

When Lyn finally reaches Caelin and meets her grandfather, Lord Hausen looks in her eyes and see that she is truly Madelyn's daughter. He states that he can die happy now that he has seen his granddaughter, insisting that he has taken too much poison, implying that he knew he was being poisoned. Lyn convinces him to live, and the two spend many happy days walking through the gardens of Castle Caelin.

Eliwood and Hector's Tales[]

Roughly a year after the defeat of Lundgren and Lord Hausen's first meeting with Lyn, he makes a brief appearance in Eliwood's and Hector's tales. Following Chapter 15, Hausen speaks to Marquess Darin of Laus, who had invaded Caelin after retreating from Laus. After learning that the army led by Eliwood, Hector, and Lyn had defeated Darin's forces outside the castle, he tells Darin that it is pointless to keep fighting and that he should just surrender, saying that it is not too late to do so.

However, before he can persuade Darin to surrender, he is stabbed from behind by Ephidel, but left alive. Lord Hausen recovers despite losing a lot of blood in the attack. He otherwise does not play a role in the story.

In all of Lyn's endings except for her A-rank supports with Eliwood and Hector, it is stated that Lyn returns to Sacae after Lord Hausen's death, and Caelin is left in Ostian protection.
