Hidari (左) is an artist and illustrator that created the character designs for Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, being chosen due to Toshiyuki Kusakihara's frequent praising for his work. Prior to his work on the game, he worked as the character designer on the Dusk Trilogy of Koei Tecmo's Atelier series and on Toukiden: The Age of Demons. Outside of video games, Hidari has worked as an illustrator on numerous light novels and other media. Kusakihara had tried to hire Hidari to work on both the DLC characters for Awakening and contribute art to Cipher, the Fire Emblem trading card game, but Hidari was too busy with other projects, but for Echoes, a meeting was set up well in advance and Hidari was able to accept.[1]

- Hidari's pseudonym means "left side" in Japanese. This is based on the fact that he illustrates with his left hand.
