The Horseman (Horsemen in the Japanese version) is the original mounted bow-wielding class, introduced in the very first installment of the series. It's only present in the Akaneia Series, although similar classes are featured in almost all other games.
It should be noted that, in Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryū to Hikari no Tsurugi, Hunters cannot class change into Horsemen. Also, in Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, the members of this class are able to use swords as well as bows, just like Forrest Knights and Nomadic Troopers from the GBA games.
In Shadow Dragon, Horsemen have maximum stat caps similar to that of Swordmasters. This, combine with their ability to use Bows and 9 base movement, make them excellent units for WiFi battle. The only two downsides to the horseman class is their relatively low growth rates, and their vulnerability to weapons like the Poleax.
