“Joshua... My...dear, sweet child...”
—Ismaire shortly before dying
Ismaire (イシュメア Ishumea, Ishumare in the Japanese version) is a nonplayer character from Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones.
Ismaire is the just, beautiful and beloved queen of Jehanna, known as the 'Queen of White Dunes'. She took the throne in accordance with her dying husband's wish; and since she became busy with matters of governance, she could not make enough time for her son who then left the country. She is killed by Caellach because of her refusal to give up Jehanna's Sacred Stone. It is revealed, shortly before Ismaire draws her last breath, that the missing heir is in fact the sword fighter Joshua.
It is shown in Chapter 14: Queen of White Dunes that Ismaire has an A rank of swords, as she was taught to use them by Carlyle, a vassal who was eventually led astray by his love for her, indirectly resulting in both their deaths.
She is not playable in the main story, but can be recruited in the Creature Campaign by completing the Tower of Valni. She is a Swordmaster, and comes with the only normally obtainable Wind Sword in the game.

She is already Promoted.
Ismaire has better growths than most of the secret characters, and she has a lower starting level. However her starting stats, compared to the other possible swordmasters, are not that good. She will have decent HP, usually around the mid-high 40's; decent strength, about the same as Marisa's; good skill, close to maxing; decent luck, close to Joshua's luck; and great resistance and poor defense. She is the only secret character able to max a stat on her own, speed, although the occurrence is quite rare. She also gives you the exclusive Wind Sword, one of the lightest and quickest swords in the game. Ismaire is one of the better secret characters, but is still not that good compared to your other units, especially in the Lagdou Ruins where durability is all that matters.
