The File:Javelin.gifJavelin is the most basic Lance capable of indirect attacks. This characteristic makes them quite valuable in combat situations for a number of uses.

They usually have less accuracy, attack potency and uses than its Iron counterpart that cannot attack at range. These weaknesses are meant to counteract the Javelin's abilities to counter almost all attacks equally and their great availibility. However, in the 3-D games, they also give more Weapon Experience than its Iron and Slim counterparts which makes then even more appealing to players.

The main factor of the Javelin weapon that makes it appealing is it's range of 1-2. Lances with a range of 1-2 are rather rare and difficult to obtain, other then the Javelin which can be purchased at many stores.

Other lances that can hit at a range of 1-2 include the Flame Lance and Wishblade. These weapons along with other ranging lances have serious flaws, the Flame Lance uses magic, and is thus dependant on a character's magic stat. The Wishblade is very effective, but it is an SS-Level Lance (S level in Path Of Radiance but only useable on Trial Maps).

The exact stats of the weapon vary from game to game as the designers search for the perfect combination to make then not too strong or too weak.
