The Jealousy System is a branch of the Love System in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War that affects Love growth.

Overview[]

In the Love System, opposite-gender character pairs gain a Love bonus of 5 points per turn by waiting adjacent to each other. With the Jealousy System mechanic, however, if another female character ranked as a lower-priority pairing partner with the male character waits adjacent to the first female in the pair, they will receive the Love bonus instead.

The Jealousy System has a stacking effect that can accelerate the Love bonus growth between the male character and the beneficiary female character of the Jealousy mechanic. As an example, if the male character and the lower-priority female character stand diagonal to each other, and two higher-priority female characters stand in squares such that they are next to both the male and first female character, the lower-priority character will steal the Love bonuses from the others each turn this formation is kept.

Trivia[]

  • A glitch in Genealogy of the Holy War allows Seliph and Julia to fall in love in only a few turns after Julia is recruited. When the second generation storyline begins, Lana and Larcei will both have a higher priority as a pairing with Seliph than Julia. Julia can therefore steal Love points from both women using the Jealousy System. However, this can only be done for as long as the game is not reset once the second generation begins. On resetting the game, Lana and Larcei's priority with Seliph will become equal with Julia's, and thus Julia cannot gain Love points with Seliph through them.
