“If the Demon Dragon has really been released, this would be the greatest danger mankind has faced since the Scouring!”
—Jodel in Binding Blade.

Jodel (translated Yodel in the fan translations) is a playable character in Fire Emblem: Binding Blade. He is a high-ranking bishop of the St. Elimine Church. Jodel had a romantic relationship with Niime that fell through for unknown reasons, although it is hinted during his B-support conversation with Niime that it ended because he was unwilling to avenge his murdered sister, something Niime could not understand. Jodel speaks with Roy during several different parts of the story and is available for use late in the game. He brings with him one of two legendary weapons; either Murgleis, if you took the Ilia route or Maltet if you took the Sacae route. He also comes equipped with the Saint's Staff.

OverallEdit

Jodel comes late as a replacement unit if you have not properly trained Elen or Saul, but his lower base stats makes it difficult to use him the same way as the other two. In addition, his low speed and con can give him troubles with attack speed, meaning he will commonly be doubled by opponents. However, his magic is close to average, so if you are in need of a spare healer, Jodel can get the job done. His resistance is also capped so he could make a fine magic tank, just make sure he isn't in the range of a physical attacker. Utilizing his staff skills allows him to avoid most combat, and use offensive magic for defense. Lastly his Light rank is at A so if he fights a few battles he can use the Aureola.

EtymologyEdit

Yodel is a likely misrominization of Yoder (also spelled Joder and Ioder), a surname derived from Theodorus. Jodel may also come the name of a Nazi general, Alfred Jodl.
