The Journeyman (Trainee Fighter in the Japanese version) is a Trainee type class from the game Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. The Journeyman class is completely exclusive to Ross, a character of the game.
This class can only use Axes in combat. When Ross is first recruited, he will have relatively low stats; because of this it is assumed by many that the Journeyman class is not very good. This is incorrect, however, as Ross can be promoted twice, from Journeyman to another class, then promoted again. The sheer amount of levels he can gain by doing this makes him an extremely powerful unit once trained.
At level ten, Journeymen will promote into the Fighter or Pirate classes or, if both routes of The Sacred Stones have been completed once, they can remain a journeyman and be reverted to level 1 so that they can level up further. Journeymen gain 33 exp per attack and 100 per kill while in combat.
The Journeyman class is considered to be a 0-Tier Class. This is because it promotes into the 1st-Tier classes of Pirate or Fighter. In the Fire Emblem series, 4 Tiers have been observed throughout the games: 0-Tier, 1st Tier, 2nd Tier, and 3rd Tier. 0-Tier and 3rd Tier only appear in a select few games. 0-Tier, as of now only appears in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. 1st and 2nd Tier classes are the normal ones of the series.
Two other 0-Tier classes exist, both also exclusive to Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. These are the Pupil class (unique to Ewan), and the Recruit class (unique to Amelia). Like the other two, he has a "Super" class (Super Journeyman). The Super Journeyman is almost similar to a Berserker with a very high critical rate, but without the ability to walk on water and mountains.
