The Killing Edge (キルソード Kiru sōdo, lit. Kill Sword) is a highly potent and lethal Sword that recurrently manifests across the various titles in the Fire Emblem Series. Bestowing upon its wielder an increased Critical rate that ranges anywhere from 20% to 30%, this sword is one that is principally employed in the final chapters of any given game, in spite of the presence of other Sword weapons that are more powerful by virtue of their sheer Might. The full potential of this sword is one that can be realised in the hands of Swordmasters, as its pre-existing Critical rate, combined with that of the added Critical bonus that said class is naturally imbued with, may effectively induce an overall Critical hit statistic exceeding 50%. The only drawback to this lies in the fact that this sword is notorious for possessing very poor Durability. Apart from the Swordmaster class, the Assassin class may also stand to benefit by being outfitted with such a weapon, as the added critical hit bonus allows them to activate their unique skill, Lethality (Silencer in some games), more frequently, thereby increasing their efficiency in ploughing through massive battlefields.
  +
  +
In addition to the laudable benefits highlighted above, the Killing Edge can also be used as an effective means of training and/or protecting low-level units, including the likes of Myrmidons and Thieves. For one, this sword requires its user to possess only a C weapon proficiency level to equip, whereas most weapons of equal or greater power require at least an A or an S level. Furthermore, the critical hit boost grants units the ability to inflict massive amounts of damage - That which is extremely useful for killing much stronger foes, in turn allowing them to gain valuable experience at a faster rate. Finally, the lightweight nature of the sword allows for a significant reduction in Attack Speed penalties being sustained by its wielder, a fact that allows for greater precision and the ability to perform double attacks.
  +
  +
Myrmidons usually equip this sword as their starting weapon of choice, a fact that may be gleaned from such examples like Nabarl, Shiva, Rutger, Guy, Joshua, Zihark, and Lon'qu - Thereby positing it as a trademark weapon of this specific class. This sword also doubles as the trademark weapon of Jaffar, as evidenced by the fact that he is introduced into the events of Rekka no Ken wielding it, alongside being depicted in his official artwork as brandishing a pair of Killing Edges that have been modified to resemble knives in accordance to the Assassin class's animation style.

The Killing Edge (キルソード Kirusōdo, known as the Kill Sword in the Japanese version) is a very lethal weapon that gives the user +30 crit (20 in Shadow Dragon). Despite there being more powerful weapons in terms of power, the Killing Edge is a sword that many players use even in the final chapter of the game in question. This sword is especially dangerous in the hands of Swordmasters, which can raise their critical hit stat to well over 50. Its only drawback is the fact that it is notorious for having very poor durability throughout the series.

The Killing Edge can also be used as an effective means of training and/or protecting low-level units, like myrmidons and thieves. It requires only C weapon level to use, whereas most weapons of equal or greater power require at least A or S level. The critical hit boost can also help units to deal massive damage or even kill much stronger foes, helping to give them a lot of experience. Its light weight also generally grants units the ability to strike accurately and swiftly. In addition, Assassins wielding a Killing Edge have a higher chance to deal the skill Silencer/Lethality that one-hit KO's the Enemy, regardless of health.

In the games, Killing Edges are often very rare, though still accessible. Myrmidons usually equip them as their starting weapon, and it is the trademark weapon of Jaffar. In his official art, Jaffar is always shown to be dual wielding two Killing Edges specially designed as knives to fit the assassin's animation style.

“A sword whose design yields frequent critical hits.”
—In-game description, Shadow Dragon and Shin Monshō
