Lance Knights (ランスナイト) are knights who ride into battle armed with Lances. Lance Knights were introduced in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War where they vied in competition with other mounted classes such as Cavaliers, Free Knights, Axe Knights, and Bow Knights. They returned in Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 and switch to swords in the indoor chapter with the dismounting mechanics. This feature was criticized for defeating the purpose of Lance Knights and making them inferior to the Cavalier class.

They were absent from the next three Fire Emblem games. They returned in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn to replace the Cavalier class.
