“Hey, Kyza... Do you smell that?”
—Lyre in Radiant Dawn
Lyre (リィレ, Rīre) is a playable character in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. She is a Cat Laguz of the Beast Tribe. She is the younger twin sister of Lethe and possibly has feelings for Commander Ranulf. She hates fighting but joins the army to be with Lethe and Ranulf. She is first introduced to the group in Chapter 3-1 by helping Lethe and Mist pass out poisoned food to knock out the guards. She is then an ally unit along with Lethe for that chapter. She officially joins the group in chapter 3-4. She and Kyza are both mentioned in a support conversation in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance between Ranulf and Lethe. Despite her hatred of war, Lyre still joined Gallia's army because she wanted to fight along with Lethe and could not bear to see her die.

Personality
Edit
Lyre's personality is pretty much the opposite of her twin sister Lethe. Lyre seems to be the pettier of the two sisters, even though she can be just as fierce as her sister Lethe. In an info conversation, she claims that Shinon is lucky that she did not claw the smile off his face after an altercation between the two and Gatrie. In a different info conversation she begs Ranulf to give her the gift he offers, instead of giving it to Kyza, her excuse being that she is the smaller and more helpless of the two.

Overall
Edit
Lyre's stats are lower than the Laguz Royals, and therefore has less consistency, but she is not useless. To train her, giving her finishing blows is an ideal option, as it allows more EXP to be gained. However, her low strength and defenses can get in the way, as she is quite frail and can be killed quite easily. Using her can get harder and harder as the game progresses, which can leave her overlooked in favor of Ranulf or Skrimir. However, Lyre is faster, and can therefore evade and double easier. If her class's personal skill, Rend, is not available/in question, Paragon + Blossom is a good skill combination to make her grow faster. Overall, despite some shortcomings that can leave her overlooked, if trained properly, Lyre can be a nuisance to the opponent with that high avoid.

Edit
Finder of Secrets (気ままな尻尾)
Lyre lived free and wild in the forest. She often told her young comrades of the war and the heroes therein.
Etymology
Edit
The lyre (lyra) is a musical instrument from Ancient Greece. It is said to have been invented by Hermes, messenger of the gods, though it is probably more often associated with the mythical poet Orpheus, master of the lyre.
Trivia
Edit
- In Greek mythology, Orpheus of the lyre wandered into the underworld of Hades, in grief over the loss of his wife. There, it is said in some stories, that he had to cross the rivers of the underworld, Styx and Lethe.
