Maximum Hit Points determine how many hit points a unit can have, for example; if a unit's HP status reads 30/46, this would indicate that they could have up to 46 HP. The amount will vary unit to unit, the general amount of Max health for most units is 60 or 80 at their last tier with a few exceptions (usually final bosses of the games have '???' as their health at first, and it is usually 120.) How much it decreases is affected by the unit's defense, and/or resistance, and the might of the attacker. Some units (like Fighters and Generals) will gain high amounts of maximum HP. There are some items that allow a unit to raise his or her maximum hit points. The games' items for doing so are the Angelic Robe/Seraph Robe.
