Medeus (translated Mediuth in the Japanese version), in the very first Fire Emblem game, Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryū to Hikari no Tsurugi, is a dark dragon that is one of the main foes of the game. He was once a prince of the Earth Dragon royal family, but when the dragons were forced to take Manakete form he was the only Earth Dragon who complied and thus did not go wild. After the other Earth Dragons were sealed by Naga, Medeus was tasked with guarding the seal. Over time he became furious on how humans looked down upon his race, so he forms up the Doluna Empire and enslaved humanity. He was eventually killed by the hero Anri, and his kingdom is destroyed. Centuries later, the dark priest Gharnef brought his forces back and worked to resurrect him through the power of Aum Staff. Medeus was revived, but he was quickly slain by Anri's descendant Marth.

Later, Gharnef tried to revive him again using the noble sisters: Lena, Elice, Nyna, and Maria . This time Medeus has metamorphized into a Dark Dragon. However, Marth once again kills him before he can do anything further. He keeps claiming that he can always return as long as there is evil in humans' hearts.
