“Listen up, dogs! There will be no retreating today! We stop Crimea's advance here! We will not allow them to gain the comforts of their homeland! Any who do not fight to the death will face my lance!”
— Petrine

Petrine is a character in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. She was one of Daein's Four Riders during the Mad King's War. She appears as the boss of Chapter 23: The Great Bridge in Path of Radiance, where she is killed during the battle at Riven Bridge. It is also revealed in her battle conversation with Soren, that she is one of the Branded. She wields the Flame Lance, which is special for using Magic for attack power instead of Strength. She can be used in the Trial Maps if you beat the game 7 times. In the game she is very racist towards Laguz calling them stupid and half-breeds. This could be because of her identity as a branded, as it is mentioned elsewhere that Laguz treat the branded far worse than the beorc do.

[edit] Etymology

'Pétrin' is the French translation of 'trouble'. Also, the word 'petrine' means "of or relating to Saint Peter;" however, perhaps the most important etymological reference is to Petreius, a pseudo-historical Roman general in mythical British histories such as the Historia Regnum Britanniae by Geoffrey of Monmouth whom King Arthur kills when he sacks Rome.
