“I owe you my life. All of it. Every hour, every day, until the end. You've got my full attention. I'll watch you like a hawk on a mouse. Forever and ever—until one of us is no more. And maybe then some.”
—Rhajat to Corrin after they rescue her at the end of her Paralogue.

Rhajat is a playable child character in Fire Emblem Fates. She is the daughter of Hayato.

Profile[]

Rhajat is the daughter of Hayato. Like the other children of Fates, she was placed in the Deeprealms for her protection. Rhajat became interested in the magic arts, which Hayato initially fostered. As time passed, her loneliness drove her into darker arts as a means of coping. It is revealed that Rhajat used to be much more cheery and energetic until one day she nearly fell off a cliff, only to be saved by Corrin who was visiting her Deeprealm at the time. This became a turning point in her life personality wise.

In her Paralogue, Rhajat finally succeeds in learning to summon Faceless. Unfortunately, this occurred during a visit by Hayato and the army. Quickly moving in, her Faceless are quickly dispatched by the army. Hayato can talk with her during the battle. If he does, he will tell Rhajat to stop summoning Faceless and she will comply. After the battle, Hayato is upset that she decided to go for the more advanced dark arts (summoning Faceless) and orders her to go with him so he can supervise her magical training. As she knows she cannot object to her father's decision, she goes along with him, provided that he can give her challenges.

Before leaving, Rhajat decides to have one final look at her house when a Faceless that survived the battle ambushes her. Corrin kills the Faceless before it can attack her. Rhajat thanks Corrin for protecting her and vows to help them no matter what, albeit in an obsessive manner. Should Corrin be her mother, a slightly different event occurs. Rhajat apologizes to her for letting her spell go out of her control, but Corrin forgives her, relieved that she is ultimately unharmed. Rhajat is touched by her mother's kindness, but states that her affections for her transcend their familial bonds. While Corrin does not understand, Rhajat pledges to be there for her mother and is happy to leave the realm in order to be close to her.

After the war, Rhajat disappears from official records. While some believe that she lived in seclusion, and others believe that she continued following Corrin, nothing is ever confirmed. If she marries Corrin in Revelation, regardless of gender and if Female Corrin is not her mother, she will become the queen of Valla. If she marries Female Corrin, they eventually adopt two children to succeed the throne.

Personality[]

Rhajat is a loner, preferring to stay away from others, especially those who she has no interest in. Her non-sibling supports with Shigure indicate that she used to suffer serious power incontinences when she was younger, leading her to be feared and to isolate herself from other people in fear of hurting them and being rejected. She dabbles in darker pursuits that appear dubious in nature, but most of her endeavors have the best of intentions for someone else.

Rhajat has a particular obsession with Corrin after they saved her from a Faceless ambush at the end of her Paralogue. She also tells them that it started when she was young and energetic, as they saved her from falling off a cliff.

Her relationship with her father comes off initially as cold and condescending because she is technically older than he is, however, it is revealed that her cold personality is a means to mask her loneliness due to being raised in the Deeprealms by herself. When Hayato insists on bonding with her no matter what, she actually breaks down into tears. This shows that even though she is older than Hayato is, she nevertheless cares a great deal about him.

Rhajat also cares a great deal about her mother, wanting her to trust her despite the opinions of others, such as the villagers in their supports. They also reveal that she's quite single-minded in her non-Corrin pursuits, like when she completely focuses on finding a cure to an illness despite being mistaken as the source of said sickness in the first place.

Base Class Set[]

Rhajat inherits Hayato's decent stat spread with a modest Magic and Speed modifier to give her a solid performance as a Diviner. Her Magic potency varies either having extremely high potential with mothers like Felicia, Orochi, and Nyx, or neutral changes with Hinoka and Oboro. Her Speed is the same, seeing as high as +6 from Azura and Setsuna or neutral +1 from Orochi. For the most part, she is likely to launch powerful attacks and can kill most enemies in a single round. Her main downsides are her low Skill and Defense modifiers, making it hard for her to hit her opponent and if she in turn is hit physically, she can suffer greatly. In the end, she is a very glass-cannon like mage with certain mothers, dishing out great damage while suffering the same if she is hit herself. Her Personal Skill, Vendetta, allows her to be very dangerous to engage and leave alive as she deals 4 more damage whenever she reinitiates combat with a unit she had previously encountered on that map.

As a Diviner, she starts of with Magic +2, which falls off quickly with her strong Magic growths, and Future Sight to boost her EXP gains when training. Her two promotion options have two different results which have good applications depending on her mother. Onmyoji brings her Magic to its fullest potential as its pure emphasis on Magic damage along with the ability to heal makes her a very potent magic unit. Rally Magic can assist allies by boosting her magic while Tomefaire adds a guaranteed +5 damage to her Tome based attacks. Overall, for most magic potent Rhajat, this is the class to go with with mothers with strong Magic modifiers for her. Basara introduces the usage of Lances and Naginatas. For mothers who give her decent Strength modifiers, like Kagero and Effie, this class is worth using to exploit her ability to deal both physical and magical damage. She learns Rend Heaven, to boost her damage based on her enemy's Strength or Magic, depending on the weapon, and Quixotic which, while it gives the benefits to her enemies as well as herself, she gets the needed boost to her Hit Rate and Skill activation rates that is a result of her low Skill growths.

Secondary Class Set[]

As Rhajat's base class is the same as her father's, she will inherit his Oni Savage set.

From Oni Savage, Rhajat can learn Shove to push allies out of the way and allow her to finish off the opponent if the ally in question did not kill them. Seal Resistance compliments her high Magic to allow her to deal more damage onto enemies with magic. The promotions in this class set are Oni Chieftain and Blacksmith.

As an Oni Chieftain, Rhajat can use Axes, though her initially low Strength can hamper her from using them efficiently. Fortunately, this class is able to use Magic, so she can fit well. She will get increased durability and physical defense, but her Skill will drop considerably due to this class' low Skill growth and cap. In this class, she can learn Death Blow to deal more critical hits, and Counter to punish opponents that try to attack her in melee range. Sadly, the low Skill of Oni Chieftain will underscore her difficulty with accuracy; however, this can be decently remedied by equipping skills like Certain Blow and Quixotic.

As a Blacksmith, Rhajat can use Swords and Axes. However, she may have trouble unless given a Bolt Axe/Levin Sword, due to her initially low Strength. In this class, she can learn Salvage Blow, though the nature of this skill makes it relatively useless for her. Lancebreaker makes her an effective lance killer, increasing her accuracy and evasion against them.

Maternal Inheritance and Tertiary Class Sets[]
  • Female Corrin: Since Corrin's stats and classes are selected by the player, her stats will vary greatly. A magic-oriented Corrin will compliment her Magic growth nicely, but the player should avoid a Skill-bane Corrin as it will further hurt her Skill growth and cap. Corrin passes down Nohr Princess, giving Rhajat access to Dragon Fang for more damage and Nobility for an increased experience gain. The promotions she gets are Hoshido and Nohr Noble (Nohr Noble is only available in Revelation); from Hoshido Noble, Rhajat learns some utility skills, Dragon Ward to protect adjacent allies, and Hoshidan Unity to help her activate skills more often. From Nohr Noble, she can learn Draconic Hex to cripple opponents who are unable to kill her and Nohrian Trust to use her partner's skills.
  • Azura: Azura gives her some decent modifiers, notably a +6 Speed cap, though she will suffer a high defensive penalty of -3. Azura passes down the Pegasus Knight set. From this class, Rhajat can learn Darting Blow to get a Speed advantage whenever she initiates battle (which will go well with her Personal Skill if she has fought them already) and Camaraderie, though her low HP prevents her from using it efficiently. The promotions are Falcon Knight and Kinshi Knight. The most noteworthy skill for Rhajat is Warding Blow from Falcon Knight to give her increased Resistance against magical attacks whenever she initiates a battle, another skill which can work nicely with her Personal Skill. Still, if the player intends to keep her as a healer, Amaterasu from Kinshi Knight should be a good option as well.
  • Orochi: Orochi gives her some satisfactory modifiers, notably a +5 Magic cap modifier to increase her offensive capabilities. She does suffer a small drop in physical defense, but all of her other caps have positive modifiers. Since Rhajat shares the same class as Orochi, she will pass down the Apothecary line instead. Nothing special comes from this set, apart from Replicate to double her offensive capabilities, though care should be taken due to her poor durability.
  • Nyx: Nyx is exclusive to Revelation and gives a similar set of modifiers as Orochi; however, there are some notable differences, such as a much higher Speed modifier at the cost of Skill. Nyx passes down the Dark Mage set. From this starting class, Rhajat can learn Malefic Aura for a small damage modifier when she attacks with magic, and Heartseeker to reduce the opponent's evasion (and help her accuracy), though the fact that she has to be adjacent to whoever she is attacking makes it rather risky. The promotions are Sorcerer and Dark Knight. As a Sorcerer, Rhajat gets more Magic and S-Rank in Tomes, giving her additional damage. Vengeance allows her to deal more damage as her HP lowers, though she will need some Seraph Robes to fully use it, and Bowbreaker to further increase her accuracy against bow users. Dark Knight class offers extra mobility, the ability to use swords and increased physical defense, but will also give her a beast weakness and a slight drop in Speed. Seal Magic helps her cripple magic users and Lifetaker to replenish her health when she defeats an opponent.

Base Set[]

Rhajat is a Green Mage highlighted by her solid Atk and Spd. This puts her in competition with Nino with some small redistribution of stats, but ultimately yielding similar results. While making her a viable option for an offensive Green Mage, this also means that she is an inferior option simply due to the easier access to Nino, especially for merges. Nevertheless, Rhajat’s inherent advantages does give her a starting niche that is wholly separate from Nino while being able to function like her with easier inheritance. With her later Resplendent Form, Rhajat received a much appreciated boost to her stats, giving her slight more viability in the later Books.

Keen Gronnwolf is Rhajat’s weapon which deals effective damage to Cavalry units. She is the only inherent user of the tome and thus requires less Refinery stones to not only have the stronger form of Gronnwolf, but also gives it a refine to negate the visible buffs on any cavalry unit she combats. While not the most defensive unit, this refine and one of her base skills makes her an excellent check for mage cavalry units, especially the likes of Reinhardt as well as most Blue and Green cavalry. Her unique weapon, Obsessive Curse, not only keeps her useful as an anti-cavalry unit, but she also debuffs the Spd and Res of her foe by -5. With the special refine, she becomes a useful chipper support, as it inflicts both 7 points of damage to the foe and allies within 2 spaces, and gives them a penalty that prevent them from countering during their next action.

Distant Defense gives her additional Def/Res when attacked by a ranged unit, giving her a little bit of bulk to bait out cavalry mages. Rally Atk/Def boosts the Atk/Def of an ally by 3, which is a stronger, better scoring Support Skill for Arena scoring, while giving visible buffs for such teams. Whenever Rhajat initiates battle on an enemy, Savage Blow inflicts 7 damage to enemies within two spaces of her target, giving her decent splash damage.

Counters[]

Rhajat’s low bulk leaves very little room for her to actually take many hits, even with Distant Defense applied. Reds check her easily. Whether they are speedy Reds like Ayra and Owain who simply run through her with sheer speed and might, Distant Counter users like Ryoma and Zelgius who can soak a hit and retaliate back, or Red Mages like Tharja or Lilina who can nuke her with magic, she fares poorly against the color disadvantage. Brave Bow/Firesweep Bow users similarly can kill her through a quick follow-up attack or completely uncontested attacks respectively

Skill Inheritance[]

Draw Back is a universally good Support Skill for mage units to pull allies out of danger. Moonbow is a fast charging special that ignores 30% of enemy Res when she activates it while Glimmer can empower her attacks if she receives a healthy amount of support from allies. Rhajat already has a niche as a cavalry counter as mentioned above. She can further check mage cavalry units if she takes a Distant Defense Seal to give her a massive 12 Def/Res boost when attacked. Alternatively, Fury is available to give her a flat 3 point boost to her four main stats at all times while having a 9 Def/Res increase when initiated upon by ranged units. The small recoil after combat helps put her into the damage range of Vantage, which gives her attacking priority when initiated upon while under 75% health. To fully make use of her unique tome, Rhajat can completely focus on becoming a potent chip damage unit by giving her Poison Strike and Savage Blow in both her Skill C and Seal, inflicting 17 non-lethal damage to her target after battle and a whopping 21 non-lethal damage to foes within two spaces of her target after damage. Given her high Spd, Windsweep can help ensure she can get this attack off at the cost of losing 10 damage to her target when initiating combat.

More expensive skills can include Null Follow-Up, making full usage of her Spd to launch follow-ups and resist some units who may be faster than her. Special Spiral lets her charge her Special faster for more overall damage. Her two most valuable stats are her Atk and Spd, thus most Atk/Spd skills like Solo, Ideal, and Push improve these as much as possible.

Etymology[]

Rhajat is an anagram of Tharja, the basis for her character. "Rajat" is a Hindi word that means "silver".

In a similar vein, Syalla (シャラ) is a modified phonetic anagram of Tharja's Japanese name Sallya (サーリャ).

Trivia[]

  • Rhajat is very similar to Tharja in a variety of ways.
    • She shares her appearance, various personality traits, and overall color scheme.
    • She shares her Japanese voice actor, Kana Akutsu.
    • She also shares her English voice actor, Stephanie Sheh, with her.
    • Rhajat's Japanese and International names (Syalla and Rhajat) are anagrams of Tharja's names (Sallya and Tharja).
    • Rhajat implies in her Japanese S-Support with both Corrins that she is a previous incarnation of Tharja and that they are Robin's previous incarnation and promised to fall for them at first sight and love them eternally.
    • Her death quote references Tharja's first meeting with Robin in Awakening, which takes place in Plegia's desert.
    • Her birthday, April 1, is also one day before Tharja's, April 2. Coincidentally, her birthday falls on April Fool's Day.
    • Rhajat's special trait, "has the darkest thoughts", is the same as Tharja's.
    • Rhajat's special trait in the Japanese version, of "having the best thighs in the army", could refer to Tharja's own special trait of "having the best body in the army" in the Japanese version of Awakening.
  • Rhajat is the only female unit in Fates that can have an S-Support with a Female Corrin.
    • Rhajat, along with Niles, are the first characters to be able to explicitly form a same-sex relationship, both cases with Corrin, though not the first ones to display same-sex attraction.
  • Rhajat was voted the 24th most popular female on Nintendo's official Fates character poll.
  • Rhajat is one of four Fates children to have their official artwork depict themselves with a different hair color than their determinate parent. The others being Mitama, Soleil, and Asugi.
