“Heh heh heh... Humans will never conquer darkness. The guardian of light, Rausten, will drown in a never-ending night. Come, my pretties. It's time to go. The day of Rausten's destruction has at long last arrived!”
—Riev
Riev (アーヴ Āvu, Irv in the Japanese game) is an enemy character in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. Once a revered priest of Rausten, he was cast out by Pontifex Mansel for heresy and worshiping the Demon King, Fomortiis. The fallen heretic priest would then become one of the strongest warriors in Grado; however, his true goal was to release the Demon King from the Stone of Grado. He is very loyal to Prince Lyon and acts somewhat as a caretaker to him, though this is probably because Lyon is the container of the Demon King's soul.
He is also known as Blood Beryl, and named one of Grado's two new generals (along with Caellach) for his sinister control over monsters and the undead. Chapter 6 reveals his aide is Novala. It is learned in Ephraim's route that Riev was responsible for the Phantom Ship, a ship controlled by monsters, which sunk almost anything it passed by. Although he served as a messenger for most of the game, he lead two of the final attacks, one at Rausten Court and the other at Darkling Woods, where he died.
Riev is unlocked by beating the seventh floor in the Tower of Valni.
