“Ah! ...You are... How are you still...?”
—Rucke as he is surprised to see Michalis alive.

Rucke (referred to as Ryuke in the fan translations) is a boss character in Book 2 of Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem and Fire Emblem: Shin Monshō no Nazo ~Hikari to Kage no Eiyū~. He is a General of Macedon who rose into rebellion to overthrow Princess Minerva, as ruler of Macedan.

Rucke raised a rebellion along with Rumel, with himself as the leader, after Minerva decided to disband most of the army. His actions caught Minerva by surprise and she was defeated and captured by the rebels. Before the Altean army marches to reclaim Minerva, Rucke gets a surprise visit by Michalis, who everyone believed had died in the previous war. Michalis tells Rucke that he no longer cares about Macedon's future and allows Rucke to do what he wishes with it, but he must take Minerva away. Rucke tells Michalis that Minerva is on the brink of death, and there's no way to help her, but Michalis threatens to kill him should he refuse his order. Rucke panics and orders a soldier to retrieve Minerva for Michalis and watches as the two set for skies. Afterwards, Rucke is eventually defeated by Marth's forces and his rebellion attempt is shattered. Before dying, Rucke is impressed by the power of the Altean army.

Conversation with Michalis in Book 2Edit

Michalis: Rucke, a coward like you wouldn’t dare to do something this big. Did Hardin fool you with his fancy words?

Rucke: Ah! ...You are... How are you still...?

Michalis: You thought I was dead? Haha... Nevermind. Give Minerva back to me. I don’t care about this country anymore. You can do what you want with it. However, I won’t rest until I have dealt with “that guy” personally.

Rucke: Yes... But... Princess Minerva has already breathed her last... She cannot be saved...

Michalis: Don’t waste my time. Hand her over now, or do you prefer to die by my lance?

Rucke: O-okay! I understand. Hey, you, bring the princess here!

In BattleEdit

“Da-damn... Why would Altea... I’ll send you to your graves, die!”
—Rucke before engaging in Battle.

“The Altean knights... Truly impressive...”
—Rucke impressed by the Altean Army before his death.

  • In the original, he shares the same portrait as Merach. The two characters have some things in common too, both being armored units from Macedon. However, Merach was very loyal to Minerva, which ironically caused his death, while Rucke overthrew her in a rebellion. In the remake, Rucke now has a unique portrait different from Merach, but it still shares some similar features, such as the same sunken face.
