“Oh! My manners have gone right out the window. I'm Sharena, Alfonse's darling little sister.”
—Sharena talking to Kiran

Sharena is a main character and a protagonist in Fire Emblem Heroes. She is a princess of the Askran Kingdom and the younger sister of Prince Alfonse. She wields the legendary lance Fensalir.

Profile[]

Sharena is able to remember visiting Ljósálfheimr, the realm of dreams as a child, something that would normally be unusual for someone of her age. These memories took place in the past, when Dream-King Freyr and Lady Freyja opened the Dream Gate, she used to play with other children frequently in her dreams, one of which looked like her. They regularly swapped clothes, hairstyles and eventually, lives. The two of them switched places so many times that they lost track of which of them was originally Sharena. When Freyr and Freyja offered the children the dream nectar, one of the two fled, and became the Sharena that would grow up in Askr.

Sharena was taught how to use a lance by Zacharias, a former member of the Order of Heroes. Sharena has been part of the Order of Heroes for quite a while, and often writes letters to her mother. Though both live in the same castle, they rarely speak to one another.

In Paralogue 7, after beating the first stage, Sharena immediately befriends Katarina, who claims to have more allies that she would like Sharena to meet. She then leads them into an ambush. Alfonse expresses his distrust of Katarina, but Sharena defends her new friend. In the third stage, Katarina asks Sharena why she defended her and Sharena replies saying that that's what friends do. Moved by her words, Katarina then warns them of the ambush that she set, much to Clarisse's disliking. In the end, while Sharena feels discouraged that she put people at risk, Alfonse assures her that her ability to trust people is something she should cherish.

Book III[]

In an alternative timeline, Hel's invasion of Askr lead to the death of Kiran when the Order of Heroes activated the Heart's Rite ritual in order to combat Hel. As a result, Kiran was among the casualties of the rite. Despite the power of the ritual, it was still not enough to end Hel's invasion and in one last battle, Sharena was killed by Hel herself in front of Alfonse.

"End of spoilers. It's a pleasure doing business with you!"

Book IV[]

While in Ljósálfheimr, when the group meets Peony, Sharena vaguely remembers the ljósálfr from her dreams, which makes both girls very happy. Over the course of the story, Sharena continues to have odd recollections of her time in Ljósálfheimr, even mentioning meeting a girl who looked identical to her. Eventually, this comes to a head when Freyja claims that she abandoned her friends within the dream realm when she didn't drink her share of the nectar that would have transformed her into an alfar and instead returned to the real world. In truth, the girl whom became Peony drank Sharena's share, preventing her from transforming into an alfar like the other human girls.

Sharena and the human girl that became Peony were particularly close, looking similar enough to one another that they would often dress and pretend to be each other in the real world. When Sharena has her lost memories restored by Freyja, she recalls both her life as the Askr princess and of the commoner she masqueraded as. Because she and Peony had exchanged places so often, she grows confused and begins to doubt that she is the "real" Sharena, and may in fact be the other girl.

Ultimately, Peony helps set Sharena's mind at ease, explaining that neither of them can clearly remember which of them is the real princess, but that their memories are so entwined that Sharena shouldn't worry if she's the real princess or not. Before Sharena and the others awaken, bringing an end to the dream, Peony gives her a floral crown as a gift, which carries over into the real world. When Sharena recognizes it, she is about to become overcome with grief at the loss of her friend, when Peony reappears, having made it back to the real world.

Personality[]

Bright, cheerful, gregarious, and less studious and serious than her brother, Sharena is best known for her upbeat personality, allowing her to easily form bonds of friendship with other Heroes. This is immediately apparent when she meets Kiran for the first time; she quickly warms up to them with no hesitation.

Sharena is also known to be a highly optimistic and motivated person, which extends to the battlefield. Even when the odds are stacked against the Askr army, Sharena does not give in to despair, and is instead observed to steel her resolve and bravely face the enemy.

Another aspect about her is her child-like innocence, as she still believes in many childhood fairy tales. As a product of this, she remembers her dreams of being in Ljósálfheimr when she was a child, despite how most adults forget their time in that world.

Base Set[]

Sharena is one of the Askran Trio that players of Heroes receives at the very beginning of the game. Of the three, she is the Lance wielder and has rounded, average stats besides her low resistance. Overall, this makes Sharena a flexible unit, but one that cannot outmatch other more focused units. Her legendary weapon is Fensalir which inflicts Threaten Atk 2 on enemies, letting her be a Threaten debuffer with skills that she can inherit and use through seals. Refining Fensalir in the Weapon Refinery removes the Threaten effect and lets it instead neutralize stat bonuses on the enemies Sharena engages, while also boosting her own Spd and Def when next to an ally.

She is the only Askran who comes with a support skill, Rally Attack, to boost her allies in battle, but lacks a Special like the others have. Speed +3 is a decent starting Skill A but is best replaced with skills that offer higher buffs and better synergy. Fortify Def 3 grants 4 defense to adjacent allies; combined with Rally Attack, she can decently support a front-line unit with her base kit.

Sharena is a serviceable unit and is not particularly weak anywhere, but does not shine anywhere as well. As an Askran Trio unit, she has no access to unit merges or banes and boons for stat maximization. Despite this, when built well she can become a perfectly capable unit for high-level play, and because she is frequently a bonus unit for Arena and Aether Raids, investing in Sharena is never a bad idea.

Counters[]

Sharena is a fairly easy unit to counter as she is threatened by any Green unit since her lack of specialization hurts her against her color disadvantage. Bulky Blue units can shrug off her attacks. Even some strong Reds can run through her averaged stats including Zelgius, Ayra, and Mia.

Skill Inheritance Options[]

Sharena has the most flexible options of the Askr Trio since her average stats can be manipulated to suit a specific role. She will not be the best as many other units can do the roles better. She is best as a niche filler than anything. If looking to maximize her base weapon's effect, Sharena seeks skills that benefit from allies being adjacent to her.

With the Refined effect of Fensalir, Sharena solidifies her identity as a "buddy" unit who shines when adjacent to an ally. She does very well by stacking Bond skills to pad her average stats, and can equip a Bond skill in her A slot as well as her Sacred Seal to complement the inherent Spd/Def Bond on her weapon. With this in mind, her best Assist skills involve keeping an ally next to her. If kept as a Rally unit because of her base Rally Attack, a Ruse B skill can add additional utility to her Rallies. To maximize Sharena's combat ability, she can use Swap or Reposition to keep her target next to her, and a Link B skill to grant herself and her target a stat bonus. Moonbow is a good, low-cooldown and widely-available Special that helps Sharena punch through tanky enemies, but other options like Luna or Ignis could work better depending on her other skills.

As an infantry unit, Sharena can use the powerful Wrath skill and infantry-specific team support C skills like Infantry Pulse or Infantry Flash, though these require heavy investment.

Base Set[]

Spring Sharena echoes the likes of Nino as a strong Green Infantry Mage thanks in part to her strong Spd and solid Atk in exchange for low bulk, especially in physical bulk. Unfortunately for her, this means that she is in competition with Nino who is far more accessible due to her being in the normal summoning pool and is a 3 to 4 star hero. Nonetheless, Spring Sharena has her advantages, namely due to her weapon.

Muninn's Egg grants Spring Sharena a bonus 3 Resistance and has a Chill like effect. At the start of her turn, the enemy with the lowest Spd will receive an Atk/Res -5 debuff assisting her and her allies in crippling mostly tank enemies, thus leaving room for her to debuff for allies unlike Nino who focuses on raw damage.

Rally Attack Speed boost the Atk/Spd of her ally by 3 when she uses it on them. Swift Stance boosts her Spd/Res by 4 when the enemy initiates combat on her. Live for Bounty increases the Shard/Crystal payout in the Training Tower so long as she survives the battle, which is great for initial players to quickly accrue resources, but ultimately useless in PvP. Resistance Tactic grants Res+6 to allies within 2 spaces however the buff only applies if the number of representatives of a unit type on the team is two or less.

Counters[]

Spring Sharena's physical bulk is so low that she will likely fall to a single physical hit of any kind. High resistance units like Winter Tharja, Felicia, and Halloween Sakura can take a hit, even if they are affected by her skill, and likely finish her off in retaliation. Even mediocre magical bulky reds can take a hit from her, and if running Distant Counter, will also finish her in retaliation.

Skill Inheritance[]

For scoring purposes, Spring Sharena can maintain her dual Rally, though upgrading it helps tremendously. Otherwise standard Mage Support Skills like Reposition and Draw Back provides better support through unit positioning. Glimmer is a standard for high damage mages who can receive buffs from their allies while Moonbow allows for consistent damage output thanks to the partial Res ignoring effect.

Swift Sparrow or Fury are excellent options for an offensive Mage to increase her damage output. The latter is useful when used in tandem with Desperation to make her follow-up attack immediate given her solid Spd even without the Fury boost. Aside from Desperation, Chill skills work well for her Skill B, especially Chill Spd to round out her debuffing stats that she benefits from the most. IF willing to run Chill Def as her Seal, she can effectively debuff all four core stats of an enemy under the right conditions, albeit the Chill Spd effect will likely not cross with Muninn's Egg until the enemy is down to their final unit. Skill C is flexible and can be replaced with Wave, Hone, Smoke, and Spur skills depending on the player's preference.
