The Steel Blade (鋼の大剣 Hagane no Daiken, lit. Steel Big Sword) is a fairly powerful sword, although being a blade, it is also inaccurate too. It is also heavy, making double-attacks harder on classes with a lighter constitution in the GBA games, since constitution is for the most part constant; whereas in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, strength, which is less constant, is used instead of con. It is analogous to its two "great" counterparts: the Steel Greatlance and the Steel Poleax. The Steel Blade made its first appearance in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War, then skipped Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 and made a re-appearance in Fire Emblem: Binding Blade and all the games onwards so far (except in FE11 and FE12 which was a remake of FE1 and FE3). In Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, the item is unique among other purchaseable items in that it can only be bought in the battlefield on two maps and never from the world map; however Gerik comes with one upon his recruiting in both routes.
