Tarvos is a monster class in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones.

Tarvos units are one of the stronger monster classes. Most monster classes have very fundamental weaknesses that make them quite ineffective in actual combat situations, however the Tarvos monster has relatively stable stats that make it perform decently in combat.

Tarvos have relatively high attack stats so they can do some pretty decent damage, this is reflected in their powerful image. However they do have a rather low defense stat, this stat setup is much like that of Brigands. As being horse units, they have the movement of a cavalry unit with the strength of a Fighter. Being horses, monsters and axe users, they are weak to Sacred weaponry, Light spells, Horseslayer, Axereaver and Zanbato.

The in game descriptions of the Tarvos creatures stat that they wield gigantic axes that are far to big for any regular human to wield. It is notable that some of the other monster classes do not use conventional weapons to fight (they instead use claws, teeth, etc... with infinite durability/uses), however Tarvos uses axes with actual durability points.

Tarvos creatures appear as half man half horse creatures, they have the lower body of a horse with four legs that they gallop around on. Their upper body is human-like with two arms and horns on their heads, and of course they carry their giant Axes. They commonly use Iron, Steel, Poison and Hand Axes. Rarely, they may carry a Killer Axe, Swordreaver/slayer, Dragon Axe, Battle Axe or Tomahawk.
