“I see... So that's the Liberation Army... I knew their morale was too high to be the Imperial Army. All right. I'll go with you.”

Troude (トルード Torūdo, Trewd in the Japanese version, fan translated as Trude) is a playable character from Fire Emblem: Thracia 776. He is a member the Dandelion Gang, and despite being a mercenary, is very loyal to Perne. He joins Leif's army after either Perne is recruited and talks to him or after Chapter 12x ends, if he is captured. After the liberation wars, Troude supposedly returns to being a mercenary.

Compared to other sword fighters, Troude just does not measure up. He does have good growth rates, though they are far below those of Mareeta and virtually identical to those of Shiva. Like Shiva, he has a skill that boosts his durability: Nihil. It might seem like a good skill on paper, but it is rendered obsolete by the many Crusader Scrolls (which bestow critical immunity) the game throws at the player. His pursuit critical coefficient is only 1, while all the other sword fighters have a pursuit critical coefficient of at least 3. He is the last obtainable sword fighter, which certainly does not help his cause. Finally his recruitment can be a bit awkward. The chapter he is in can be trivialized by warping Lara over to Perne and recruiting him on turn 1, then using Perne to steal the Thief Staff from Tina before she wastes any of its uses. Doing so, however, will cause Troude to begin fleeing from the map. The only way to recruit him at this point would be to use one of Salem's charges of his Sleep staff to prevent him from fleeing. Some might not deem recruiting him to be worth the use of such a valuable staff.

In the end, Troude is among the most redundant units in the game, immediately obsoleted by many units, with less long-term potential than any of the other swordfighters. He can be put to use as a novelty unit, and (like all units other than mutually exclusive characters) must be recruited for players to acquire an SSS rank, but otherwise might not even be worth recruiting, and can safely be ignored. If the player chooses not to ignore Troude, however, they can expect him to be reasonably competent, if only barely.

Troude - The Man Known as Death (死神とよばれた男 Shinigami to yoba reta otoko)

After the war, Troude disappeared. No one has seen him since, but rumors say that he returned to being a mercenary.

“ it... Perne...I'm sorry...”
