“The group sets off in search of Grado’s elusive Imperial Prince Lyon. Innes has ordered Frelian troops to aid in the hunt. The troops return with news that Lyon has moved north. The group’s search for Lyon leads them to Mt. Neleras, in the heart of Darkling Woods. The scorching heat and sulphur stench render the area unfit for human habitation... Endless numbers of gorgon eggs stud the forbidding landscape.”
—Opening Narration

Two Faces of Evil is Chapter 18 of Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. This chapter is unique, as it features Gorgon Eggs, which cannot be found in any other chapter. There are many eggs in the area, along with a few Gorgons, Gargoyle, Mogalls and Baels. The eggs are quite weak; they have only 5 HP, but every time you get near them, on the Enemy's Phase, they increase by 5 HP. The eggs will take around three to five turns to hatch; once they do, Gorgons will spawn from them.

StrategyEdit

As Gorgons have a dangerously high magic attack (Demon Surge can hit over 20+ damage on the correct unit), try to waste as many as you can. The eggs are not strong, but some are usually out of reach. You will not be able to destroy all the eggs on time, but fortunately, the Gorgons will not move most of the hatched units. A Gorgon in the map uses Shadowshot, a deadly long-range attack similar to Bolting. If you let some of the eggs hatch, a few will also have Shadowshot. The boss is quite easy to defeat as it has 44 HP and no Shadowshot; just Demon Surge and Stone.

As Gorgons are dangerous, it is best to send either a Bishop or Summoner, or both toward the Gorgons. A Summoner will use Phantoms, as monsters always attack Phantoms over any other enemy unit. If one gets damaged, the other will heal them, so make sure to bring a stave to heal each other. Otherwise, send a Berserker or Swordmaster to deal with the Gorgons.

TerrainEdit

The red, cracked tiles will damage any unit that stands on it for 10 HP. These tiles can be used to perform the Enemy Control glitch, and can also be deactivated by a Thief, Rogue or Assassin.

After completionEdit

After completing, monsters will attack Nerelas Peak at times.

  • Arch Mogall

As always, regardless of boss, there will always be Gorgon Eggs. Fog of War does not occur.
