The War of Heroes is the in-universe term used to describe the events of Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem Book 2. These events took place after the War of Darkness depicted in Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryū to Hikari no Tsurugi and Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem Book 1. After Medeus was killed peace was restored to the land. Hardin Became Emperor of Akaneia by marrying his beloved Nyna and Marth returned to Altea with Shiida. Some time later, Hardin discovered that Nyna was not truly in love with him, and using this to his advantage, the evil wizard Gharnef, posing as a simple merchant, tricked Hardin into possession of the Darksphere, which slowly corrupted his mind. Hardin, under the Darksphere's influence, lead a campaign to subjugate and rule over the entire world. Marth took up arms against him, and after a long campaign, Hardin was defeated, and the Shield of Seals was restored. It was then that Gharnef's true intentions to revive Medeus were revealed. Once again, taking up the Falchion, Marth was able to defeat Gharnef and Medeus, this time for good. Marth returned to Altea and married Shiida. He also became the ruler of Akaneia, now that it was left without a King.
