White Magic (白魔法 Shiro Mahō) is the term given to recovery and non-health-draining spells in Fire Emblem Gaiden and its remake Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, as well as Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

Overview[]

Originally, White Magic is the Valentian equivalent of Staff magic. Like Staff magic, Most basic White magic is focused around healing allies such as Recover and Physic which work exactly the same as the stave versions of the same spells. White Magic also include other useful abilities such as Freeze, Rescue, and Warp, which again functions like their Staff versions. However, most notably, Clerics trained at Novis have the ability to Expel enemy Terrors. Learning White Magic depends on the character's preference as every character that is in a specific White Magic utilizing class has their own White Magic skill set. Rather than using staves to utilize their magic, White Magic costs a fixed amount of the caster's HP to cast.

In Three Houses, White Magic is once more similar to both Staff magic and Light magic as it focuses mainly on healing, supportive, and the occasional offensive light magic. Much like the Valentian casters, Fódlan casters learn specific spells of their own preference, though here as they sharpen their Faith skill stat. While Fódlan casters don't give up health to cast their magic, what they have in a trade-off is that their spells have only a set amount of uses per map. Additionally, only magic-capable classes are able to use magic at all, so classes like the Cavalier or Armored Knight bar characters from using their magic spells. The magic-capable classes can additionally double the amount of charges their magic can have, with the Priest class being one such class.
