Loosely, affinity determines a character's stat boosts that are gained from supports. Supports depend on the affinities of the two characters that are being bonded, and they determine the type of bonus given. The following tables are a compilation of bonuses given by the wind affinity in each game.
The Wind affinity gives full offensive bonuses in the GBA games, making it a useful support for characters with low attack power. Unfortunately, it gives no boosts to either Defense or Evasion, and as a result, it is often criticized for not improving a unit's durability, as well as halving its own bonuses when paired with an affinity such as Thunder or Ice. In the Tellius series, it is considered one of the worst affinities because it gives only partial bonuses to Hit and Evade. The Wind affinity is one of the more prevalent affinities among the characters in the series.
